This week, The Mama Sagas is venturing into the exciting new world of Periscope to bring real-time solutions to mamas everywhere! It is the beginning of what I hope becomes your go-to place for answers and information regarding women’s health, pediatric issues and parenting tips. I’ll be interviewing experts and asking them your questions, and broadcasting it to the world!

First up, we tackle the issue of infant feeding with the two Q/A sessions below:

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 7:00 pm MST / 9:00 pm EST – Breastfeeding Q/A with

Amanda Ogden, BSN, RN, IBCLC, Director of Lactation Services at the Mama’hood in Denver, CO

Amanda’s Bio:

I am very passionate about the art and science of breastfeeding and rebuilding this lost generational knowledge. Women are powerful and tenacious. Watching new mamas discover how the birth of their child changes and empowers them is my favorite part of the ‘hood.

When I am not reading or talking about breastfeeding and parenting you will find me hanging out with my two teenagers skiing, riding bikes, and attending theatrical productions.   I also enjoy piña coladas and getting caught in the rain.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 7:00 pm MST / 9:00 pm EST – Formula Feeding Q/A with

Dr. Bridget Young, PhD and founder of www.BabyFormulaExpert.com

Dr. Young’s Bio:

Dr. Bridget Young, PhD is a pediatric nutritionist and certified lactation counselor.  She has worked with countless mothers, helping them find the perfect feeding solution for their baby.  As a mom of two boys herself, Dr. Young understands how stressful infant feeding (and all the gassy messy issues that come along with it!) can be.  She is passionate about reducing some of that stress so parents can just focus on bonding with their baby.  She uses her expertise to educate both parents and pediatricians about the science behind infant formula and nutrition.  By translating the most cutting edge medical research into easy-to-understand step-by-step tools, she help parents feel empowered and confident in the decisions they make about their baby’s health and nutrition.

My Son the Sailor

On December 9, 2017 my middle son left for the Navy boot camp. He was 21 years old. He had no military parents, brothers, or hugely patriotic upbringing. I don’t even like the president. But my son Gabriel had talked about enlisting, off and on, for years, and the...
