Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center – Lexington

We specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy for pregnant women and new moms. During pregnancy we treat pain conditions such as low back pain, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, etc. We also treat urinary and bowel issues as well as painful sex. We can help women prepare their bodies to optimize delivery, including individualized pelvic floor education and exercises and perineal massage. All new moms should undergo an evaluation with a pelvic floor physical therapist 6 weeks - 1 year after birth. During the evaluation we can help identify impairments such as a diastasis recti, we can help with painful C-section and episiotomy scars, and help restore normal pelvic floor and pelvic girdle muscle function to reduce/eliminate stress urinary incontinence, painful sex, and reduce the risk of pelvic organ prolapse. Every new mom has different needs and treatment will be individualized. While each treatment plan may be different they all generally include manual therapy, home exercise program development, patient education, and neuromuscular re-education.
We offer phone consultations for out-of-town patients. Please call our office for details.
