Motherhood is a love that transforms.
Our Mission
The Mama Sagas is on a mission to change the narrative of motherhood from one of sacrifice to one of opportunity.
When you enter motherhood, you enter a band of heroes. Most of us don’t feel like Supermom – this gig tests the depth of our strength and resilience daily.
But if we meet the challenge, we realize motherhood is an opportunity: the chance to illuminate our true path, to realize our potential, to advocate for what we need, and to define our identity on our own terms.
Through first-person stories of triumph and transformation, and with tips for living a rich and fulfilling life with kids, The Mama Sagas celebrates what’s possible when we embrace every experience on our motherhood journey — good, bad, and everything in between.

Maven on a Mission
Motherhood has made me a lot more efficient. The first thing I did after having my son, Theo, was to schedule most meetings for 30 minutes as opposed to an hour. Balancing work and spending time with Theo is definitely my biggest challenge. My company, Maven, is...
Babywearing to Beat Isolation
We moved across the country when my first child was five weeks old. Becoming a mother wasn’t something that was even in my peripheral vision, until the day I took a positive pregnancy test – and there I was: a mother. Starting my journey into motherhood in a new state...
Becoming What We Might Be
Lao Tzu said "When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be" I fell in love with Lao Tzu in college and have found his teachings speak truth to several different chapters in my life. I even strategically place his quotes in my husband's lunch when I think he...
Motherhood at Sea: Nicole’s Story
Before I became a mother, my priorities were out of whack. I was in the Navy, but was more focused on being young and going out. I knew I had a steady paycheck already, and the thought of going back to college and working on my education daunted me. Once I became...
Loving with Pride
Pride month in our house is treated like a holiday season; not a glitzy, vacuous holiday season, but rather a month of finding space for community, sharing progress, and renewing commitment to fight for our collective rights. Like the ride of parenthood, the month is...
Creating the Relationship I Wish I’d Had
My mom Diane Todd Yates was born on the 4th of July and died on Christmas. When she died, I was nowhere close to ready to have a memorial for her. I wouldn’t even bring her ashes into my house. The ashes lived in my Jeep for six months and drove around town with me...
Motherhood Inspires Me to Be a Hero: Adriana’s Story
I am the proud mom to four children. My oldest two children are on the autism spectrum, and my youngest two are considered "neurotypical." When I first became pregnant, I never dreamed I would raise a child on the autism spectrum. The thought never crossed my mind. I...
Motherhood Has Taught Me That Being Fragile is OK
Since becoming a mother, I now experience joy, fear, isolation and pride more than I ever imagined I would. Since my daughter came along I have cried harder than I thought possible, but I've also laughed more than I have in years. Motherhood has taught me that being...
Love Who You Are: Warda
I want my kids to be healthy and to have a good education, and to always watch their manners. I teach them: love who you are. Love who you are. And accept others as you want to be accepted.
