Motherhood is a love that transforms.
Our Mission
The Mama Sagas is on a mission to change the narrative of motherhood from one of sacrifice to one of opportunity.
When you enter motherhood, you enter a band of heroes. Most of us don’t feel like Supermom – this gig tests the depth of our strength and resilience daily.
But if we meet the challenge, we realize motherhood is an opportunity: the chance to illuminate our true path, to realize our potential, to advocate for what we need, and to define our identity on our own terms.
Through first-person stories of triumph and transformation, and with tips for living a rich and fulfilling life with kids, The Mama Sagas celebrates what’s possible when we embrace every experience on our motherhood journey — good, bad, and everything in between.

Why I’ve Finally Embraced My Season of “No”
I’ve never liked saying no to things. I’ve always enjoyed happy hours with coworkers, festive holiday traditions with family, drop-of-the-hat road trips, trying new restaurants and bars with new friends, and other last minute fun. While I rarely had to say no to...
If we’re being honest…
I don't remember a life before sitting in carpool lines that feel like the depths of hell. I can't picture my house without toys and tiny shoes strewn everywhere. I don't know the last time I took an uninterrupted shower without an audience ogling my body. My house,...
Postpartum Depression was a Battle I was Fighting Alone and Trying to Ignore
Motherhood has made me a stronger woman all around. Both of my birth experiences were pretty challenging. During my first pregnancy, my husband and I lost our son Junior when I was 5 months along. That experience meant all pregnancies afterward were considered...
The Day I Cried in a Mamava Breastfeeding Pod
I was en route to our 5th annual college girls' trip when I was unexpectedly reminded of how important it is for all of us, as moms, to create a village of support for one another. I went on the same trip when my first son was 4 months old, and while I loved being...
It’s Gonna Be May… Our #31Mothers Celebration
Besides the blooming flowers and the bright green buds that adorn the trees (and besides being the one time of year it's cool to post this JT meme), May means Mother's Day, and here at The Mama Sagas it means the #31mothers series. Every day in the month of May, The...
Why We Need Black Maternal Health Week
Today marks the final day of National Black Maternal Health Week. Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) founded this week of observance in 2018 to bring attention to the black maternal healthcare crisis in America. BMMA’s website shares, “The campaign...
Prioritize the Vacation, Mama.
Back in November, I got a voicemail from a dear friend who told me she wanted to talk to me about something. She was newly married and looking forward to a family, so I fully expected she was going to break the news that she was pregnant. When I called back, it became...
When Is Tongue Tie a Problem?
An Interview with Dr. Jesse Witkoff If there is one single issue that had the biggest impact on both my babies' first year of life, it is tongue tie. And the irony? I wasn't given any information about the condition until I sought it out myself. But after struggling...
